Sadly my siblings and I lost both our parent within a year and a half of each other. We had gone through the hard process of clearing their home and getting it ready for sale. Simon and Brian Mak of BigMak Group have been our family's realtors throughout the years and we decided again to have them represent us in the sale of our parent's home. BigMak Group worked closely with us and helped us determine a good listing price to draw in the most potential buyers but high enough that we would be satisfied as the sale price. While we were still in the process of clearing the home, Simon suggested we place the 'For Sale' sign with a 'Coming Soon' teaser. That drew a lot of curiosity and anticipation that by the time we officially put the house on the market there were constant appointments to view. Within a couple days on the market we had multiple offers and sold for above listing. I want to point out that Simon and the BigMak Group are serious about their honesty, integrity and fairness to all people. We as the sellers were paying the commission for both the seller's and buyer's agent (another suggestion from them to draw buyers to our home). There was one buyer client that was also using our agent BigMak Group; this client was one of the bidders for the house. Simon stated this fact but also stated he would not influence either of us (seller and buyer) in any way in our decisions. He was there to just communicate the information between buyer and seller. Some may worry about the conflict of interest where our agent could have had the opportunity to earn both of the commissions as selling and buying agent but because Simon and the BigMak Group have high integrity and honesty we were made aware of *ALL* the offers not just that one offer. We greatly appreciate Simon and Brian for all their hard work in selling our parent's home so quickly (less than a week on market) and for the the best price (above asking) for us. A side note - through BigMak Group's recommendation we had a great lawyer - Ben Ivory of Lowry and Ivory LLC. Wonderful attorney, took care of all the paperwork and the Closing seamlessly. Ben Ivory is also knowledgeable about the tax reporting / implications of selling my parent's house. I will be consulting with him regarding this for my tax return. From placing a feeler/coming soon in late May, the actual listing in June/July, and finally to the actual closing in early August. Simon and company sold the house quick. He met with us to go over the details, make recommendations, housing comps, photoshoots, and signing the contracts. During the contract signing his honesty and integrity made it an easy signing. Even when we were moving things out of the house, Simon visited to check on things and even helped move some things (he didn’t have to do that, but he did).
